In the heart of Central-Finland.
The region - also known as Lakeland - is situated in the southern part of Finland. As Finland counts about ~188.000 lakes, most of them are scattered around in this area. While about 75% of Finnish land is covered by trees, about 86% of Central-Finland is covered with these major forests. It is no surprise that this makes the area particularly interesting for people who love vast forests and waterbodies scattered around within them.
PYHÄ-HÄKKI NATIONAL PARK
Being close to Pyhä-Häkki National Park, it is the perfect starting point for endless walks in one of the vast forests of the region. As walking offers great relaxation, it is also possible to just sit and relax at the lake.
Near the lake is a shelter for rainy days or cold weather. It is provided with a fireplace to keep yourself warm and to heat some coffee, grill some food. Like most trails and national parks in Finland, the resting place has a compostable toilet. While you are free to swim in lakes, it is good to keep in mind your safety and to regularly check for recommendations, regulations and allowance.
Kiiskilänmäki Observation Tower
Located between Uurainen and Multia, in the middle of forests near Sahrajärvi, you will find the observation tower which provides idyllic sights over the region. It's a perfect spot to go for breathtaking sunsets with all kinds of colored skies. The place is perfectly reachable by car with more than enough parking space. From the tower's location you can find a walking trail, which is suitable for everyone in normal health condition. From kids to adults, you will definitely enjoy this piece of nature when long walks or sports are not the main goal. (depending your walking speed, account between 45-120 minutes to complete the tour)
Next to the observation tower you will find a typical shelter with a fireplace to grill some foods. fireplaces in Finland are provided with firewood free to use. When you use outdoor fireplaces, wherever you go, it's always your responsibility to make us them with caution. Take strength of wind in consideration and if you are about to leave the fireplace, make sure to put them it out.
